Jerry A. Landers has successfully represented and defended skating rinks and other family entertainment centers for over 25 years.  Jerry drafted and obtained passage in Georgia of the Roller Skating Safety Act of 1993, which provides additional statutory defenses to roller skating rinks in Georgia.  Operating skating rinks, bowling alleys and other family entertainment centers presents special risk management challenges which require a specialized approach to your legal representation.  Jerry has the specialized experience necessary to effectively represent your skating rink, bowling alley or family entertainment center, not only when you are involved in legal action, but also on an ongoing basis by providing risk management advice and services.

Jerry earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Georgia in 1981 and his Juris Doctorate from Emory University in 1984.  While he was in law school, he served in the Office of Governor George Busbee. From the governor’s office, he began his law practice in 1984 with the Marietta, Georgia firm of Barnes & Browning and became the managing partner in nine years. In 2004, Jerry, along with two partners, formed Green, Johnson and Landers, LLP. Now, Jerry has returned to Marietta, Georgia to open his own practice and continues to offer his clients effective and high quality legal services in a number of litigation practice areas, including Wills; Probate; Estate Administration; Trusts; Adult Guardianship and Conservatorship; Resorts and Leisure including Skating Rinks and other Family Entertainment Centers; Commercial Litigation; and other General Civil Litigation.  Jerry is also a registered mediator, a county administrator and assisting Probate Court judge.

Jerry is a frequent speaker and presenter at Probate and Estate Administration seminars such as “Probate Practice: The Essential Basics,” National Business Institute, December 2008; “Estate Administration Procedures: Why Each Step Is Important,” National Business Institute, May 2008; “Fundamental Probate Procedures and Practice,” National Business Institute, December 2008 and also in various amusement and leisure industry settings, such as “Roller Skating Risk Management,” RSA, August 2009, 2010.

Jerry is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, the Cobb County Bar Association, and the Atlanta Bar Association.  He is the only Georgia member of the International Amusement and Leisure Defense Association.  In addition, he is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, which is a peer-reviewed rating given only to those attorneys who have earned an exemplary reputation in the legal community and whose practice is recognized to have achieved the highest level of professional excellence.
